What the Heck Is a Blue Jacket?

If you are an avid reader of my hockey articles, you know that I like to insert history lessons about the opponent.  So, what the heck is a “Blue Jacket?” According to Wikipedia, Blue Jacket or Weyapiersenwah was a war chief of the Shawnee people, known for his militant defense of Shawnee lands in the Ohio Country.  Oddly enough, the Columbus Blue Jackets are not known for defense, especially militant defense.  With a goals against average (GAA) of 2.8, teams score often on the Blue Jackets.  This season, the Penguins are 3-0 against the Blue Jackets including a winning a home and home series.  See below:

November 1: Penguins 4 Blue Jackets 2 (Fleury)

November 2: Penguins 3 Blue Jackets 0 (Zatkoff)

December 9: Penguins 2 Blue Jackets 1 (Fleury)

As slow as the Penguins have been starting, it is difficult to make a prediction.  In the NHL, it is hard to sweep a team; therefore, I would not be surprised if the Blue Jackets sneak a win.  The Penguins need to get it together offensively and stop playing come back hockey.  Unlike many other early Sunday match-ups, this game is scheduled for 6 PM at Nationwide Arena.  The game will be broadcasted on ROOT Sports or Channel 659 for DirecTV subscribers.  Enjoy!
