By definition, to slide means "to glide gracefully." The Penguins are indeed sliding but certainly not gracefully. The Penguins have lost their last two games due to numerous mistakes and sloppy play. After taking leads in both games, the Penguins eventually lost by a score of 6-4 to the Panthers and 4-1 to the Hurricanes.
The next game doesn't get any easier as the Penguins will travel to face the Montreal Canadiens. This appears to be an interesting match-up on paper as the the teams appear "dead even." See comparisons below:
GOALS PER GAME: Penguins 3.3, Canadiens 2.9
GOALS AGAINST AVERAGE (GAA): Penguins 2.8, Canadiens 2.1
POWER PLAY GOAL PERCENTAGE: Penguins 26%, Canadiens 19.6%
PENALTY KILL PERCENTAGE (PK): Penguins 80%, Canadiens 82.9%
The overall records are even similar with both teams having 13 victories. The Penguins are 13-8, and the Canadiens are 13-4-3. Folks this will be a close one. The Penguins will get off the slide tonight. Although it goes against the GAA statistics, I am predicting Penguins 3 Canadiens 2.
