Hurricane Rebound

Hurricanes are defined as violent tropical, cyclonic storms of the western North Atlantic having winds of an excess of 72 miles per hour.  The names of hurricanes occur in alphabetical order while they switch genders.   Names, created by geologists, are usually established in 5 year intervals.  See the up-and-coming names below.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (27-11-1) will face-off against the Carolina Hurricanes (14-15-8).  While the Penguins have several injuries such as: Tanner Glass (Hand), Pascal Dupuis (Lower Body), and Rob Scuderi (Fractured Ankled), they have been very successful against the Canes.  They defeated the Canes (5-2, October 8th) and (3-1, October 28th).  This game will be the first of three games on the road.  The tale of the tape is below:

  • Goals per Game: Penguins (3.0) vs. Hurricanes (2.3)
  • Goals against Evaluations (2.3) vs. Hurricanes (2.8)
  • Power Play % (24.8%) vs. Hurricanes (13.4%)
  • Penalty Kill % (87.3%) vs. Hurricanes (80.5%)

In each of these above statistics, the Penguins are considerably better than the Hurricanes on paper.  Obviously, we cannot assume that this will be a sure win.  Even so, I am predicting a Penguins win.  Be sure to watch tonight’s game on ROOT Sports at 7 PM.
