Home and Home
What comes to your mind when you hear the title, home and home? Well, select teams in the NHL will participate in a home and home series at least twice in this short 48 game schedule. While I haven’t quite figured out the system of selection, my research discovered that the Tampa Bay Lighting were left out of this selection.
This format does not necessarily mean playing back-to-back nights; however, it does mean playing the same team back-to-back. For the Penguins, their first home and home series is against the New Jersey Devils. The Penguins defeated the Devils 5-1 back on February 2. The final score shocked many people since the Devils boast 2.1 goals against average, while the Penguins boast 2.4 goals against average. The overall home and home schedule is below:
Pittsburgh Penguins at New Jersey Devils (Saturday, February 9@ 1:00 PM)
New Jersey Devils at Pittsburgh Penguins (Sunday, February 10 @ 7:30 PM)
Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Rangers (Wednesday, April 3 @ 7:00 PM)
New York Rangers at Pittsburgh Penguins (Friday, April 5 @7:00 PM)
Offering this schedule is an exciting way to get new hockey fans interested and boost ratings. This is a great tactic that the NHL is using a long with offering special packages and other avenues. I am excited about it. How about you?
